About Farrell's: A History of Fun
In 1963, Mr. Farrell opened the first Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour in Portland, Oregon. It was immediately welcomed by guests and other parlours soon opened. By 1970 the company had grown to 58 restaurants. In 1971, Mr. Farrell was approached by the Marriott Corporation who subsequently bought the company. He continued to work with Marriott as the company grew to 130 locations nationwide. Under his watchful eyes, Farrell's never experienced a restaurant failure.
Mr. Farrell left the company just prior to its sale from Marriott to a San Francisco investment group. Mr. Farrell became an author and highly sought after motivational speaker.
In 1985, under the new owners, Farrell’s concept was changed from a unique celebration restaurant to a traditional family style restaurant. By 1990 most of the locations closed and the trademark reverted to Marriott. Due to this quick process, most guests only remember the original concept and their great experiences.
In 1996, the Kirin Group, purchased the license and trademarks for the concept from Marriott. The goal was to restore the concept to a position which was to exceed the original one. Soon after, Parlour Enterprises was formed with a team of experienced restaurant and amusement center operators to assist with the expansion.
Today, guests are entertained in an updated version of Farrell's turn-of-the-century atmosphere. Staff members are dressed in pin-striped vests, old fashioned ties, and cane hats. The restaurant features the distinctive “old Farrell's” look of a century past ice cream parlor, but with a modernized décor and menu.
Bob Farrell currently resides in Washington and is a motivational speaker focusing on customer service. His book, Give ‘Em The Pickle, and his training video are best sellers. Bob is an advisor to our development and our team is committed to his philosophies.

Farrell's in Hawaii
In Hawaii, the Farrell's franchise is owned and operated by E Noa Corporation, a Hawaii-based company specializing in providing sightseeing tours around the island. You may know E Noa from the trolleys they operate around Honolulu, prominently known as the Waikiki Trolley.
